Ukrainian citizens Yevhen Panov and Andriy Zahtey, who had earlier been arrested by Russian occupying authorities in Crimea on charges of plotting sabotage, were transferred to Moscow`s Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility, according to the activists of the Civil Monitoring Commission of Moscow Zoya Svetova and Yeva Merkacheva, who visited the facility for a scheduled inspection October 13, Meduza.io reported.
Panov and Zahtey said they had been transported from Simferopol pre-trial detention facility overnight October 7 (three days prior to the Simferopol court’s ruling to extend their arrest).
According to Svetova, she saw "bloody wounds from handcuffs" and bruises on Panov and Zahtey’s hands and bruises, which "had been there since August 2016 arrest."
The reasons for the transfer of Panov and Zahtey to Moscow remain unknown. In their own words, no investigative actions have been carried out with them in Moscow yet.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on August 10 the Russian FSB claimed it had prevented "terrorist attacks" in the occupied Crimea at "critical infrastructure sites", allegedly plotted by Military Intelligence of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
Also, the FSB announced it had terminated the "Ukrainian network of agents" and arrested of the group of "saboteurs".
According to the Russian special services, "one of the organizers of the terrorist attacks prevented is Yevgeny Panov, born in 1977, resident of Zaporizhia region, an employee of the Military Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who was also detained. He is testifying."
In turn, the Ukrainian police have opened criminal proceedings on the fact of abduction of a citizen of Ukraine Yevhen Panov.
