Ukrainian man sentenced to 14 yrs in prison for spying for Russia

A Vinnytsia court on September 22 has handed down its verdict against the local resident who turned out to be an accomplice of the Russian occupation forces in Donbas, according to the press service of the regional prosecutor`s office.

The prosecutors successfully proved during hearings that the individual in April-June 2015 contributed to the activities of the ”DPR” terrorist organization, providing classified information to an operative of the Russian intelligence.

The data concerned the routes of movement of the troops and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the issues of logistics, and plans of the Ukrainian side regarding tactics of warfare.

The persons who have been receiving information from the individual accused were identified as representative of Russian GRU (Main Intelligence Department if the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) with a call sign ”Starshina” and the self-proclaimed ”Minister of Defense” of the so-called ”DPR”

Prosecutors initially requested the court to imprison the individual for 15 years.
