Journalists of a number of issues – Maksym Levin (LB.ua), Markiyan Lyseiko (Ukrinform), Ivan Liubysh-Kirdey, Heorhiy Tykhy (German TV ARD) escaped from the encirclement in Ilovaisk thanks to a decision to get ahead of the column.

“We cannot believe we’re alive. Today I (LB.ua), Markiyan Lyseiko (Ukrinform), Ivan Liubysh-Kirdey, Heorhiy Tykhy (German TV ARD) burst from the encirclement in Ilovaisk and experienced the second birthday. Once, during the first fire and an ambush, we broke a little forward. Got in two another ambushes, our tank was hit in front of us – now we were born for the second time. A driver got a minor wound (I-ML.), a window was broken – hit by about three bullets. One flew across the entire interior. We were not hit by several missiles by a miracle,” he said.
Levin also points out that Ukrainian security forces are still fighting out there.
