Ukrainian flour exports hit a 20-year high

Ukrainian flour exports hit a 20-year high of over 340 KMT in the 2015/16 season. As expected, the upward trend in flour supplies from the country continued into MY 2016/17, UkrAgroConsult reports.

Global trends also contribute to growth of flour exports. The world`s demand for flour has increased 15-20% over the last 4-5 years. Noteworthy is that imports are rising in Sub-Saharan African countries, the promising destinations for Ukrainian flour, according to UkrAgroConsult.

At the same time, flour exports from Ukraine continue expanding against the background of its gradually shrinking flour production over the recent years.

Flour production in Ukraine fell by 4.3% in 2016. This season`s flour exports from Ukraine are already up 18% year-on-year.

Ukrainian flour is now shipped to 70 countries against 30 five years ago.
