Ukrainian pilot, MP and member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Nadia Savchenko`s lawyer Nikolay Polozov says that Ukrainian consuls have been allowed to visit his client.
”I handed over the documents. I am waiting for an access permit. The detention center`s chief came out and invited the consuls to Nadia. I will go after them,” Polozov tweeted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, according to another lawyer Mark Feygin, there will be no direct swap of Nadia for Russian GRU officers Alexander Alexandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev.
As UaPosition reported earlier, on March 22, the Donetsk city court of Rostov region (Russia) sentenced Savchenko to 22 years in prison for the alleged murder of two Russian journalists.
After the verdict, Savchenko said she would not appeal, and from April 6, she resumed hunger strike, demanding her return to Ukraine.
On April 17, Savchenko`s lawyer Ilya Novikov said his client had been put on a drip after her sister, Vira Savchenko, managed to persuade her into having intravenous infusions, but Nadia`s condition was critical, she was completely exhausted.
On April 18, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko spoke on the phone with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to accelerate the release of Nadia Savchenko.
