Ukrainian border guards get U.S. equipment worth $21 mln

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has received U.S. military radio communication means worth $21 million, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

The transfer of modern military radio communication means from the U.S. Department of Defense to the border guards took place with the participation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at the premises of the Main Communication, Automation and Information Security Center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

”I am pleased to hand over to the border guards the modern, highly efficient equipment that we have received from our American partners. These are military radio communication means of various types produced by HARRIS company worth over $21 million, or over UAH 500 million,” the president said.

”This equipment will strengthen the effectiveness of protection and defense of the state border. It will allow organizing a secure telephone radio communication between the units of the State Border Guard Service and improving interaction with the units of the Armed Forces and the National Guard. It will allow to better counter the enemy electronic warfare,” Poroshenko said.
