Ukrainian authorities not planning to win back Donbas – Klimkin

The Ukrainian authorities are not planning to win back the areas in eastern Ukraine that are controlled by pro-Russian separatists and are set to find a political solution.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said this in an interview with German newspaper Rheinische Post, Deutsche Welle reported.
“This military operation would also hurt civilians, our Ukrainian citizens,” DW quoted the minister as saying.
He said that the Ukrainian government intended to continue to respect the ceasefire and continue to seek a political solution to the conflict. If Russian-supported separatists again begin to attack the positions of the Ukrainian army, it will give them a worthy rebuff, because recently its fighting capacity has increased substantially, Klimkin said.
“Now there are thousands of soldiers in its ranks who can fight and have already proven it,” he said.
