Ukraine`s top official from mineral resources agency arrested for UAH 1.5 mlin bribe

In Ukraine`s anti-corruption spree, the law enforcers have detained a senior official from one of the companies of the state-owned NJSC Nadra of Ukraine upon receiving a UAH 1.5 million bribe from a business, promising to facilitate gas production licensing procedure, that`s according to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
First Deputy Head of the SOE Zahidukrgeologiya of NJSC Nadra of Ukraine of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine Ministry at the Ecology Ministry was arrested as he was receiving a UAH 1.5 million of undue advantage in Lviv.
According to Arsen Avakov, the official has demanded that a representative of a legal entity pay UAH 3 million of an unofficial fee to get assistance in agreeing the papers concerning a gas field with a following issuance of a special permit for subsoil use.
The official from Zahidukrgeologiya was detained in Lviv July 13 during the receipt of the undue advantage, the minister said.  The economy prevention unit of the National Police Department in Lviv region and the regional prosecutor`s office were the agencies behind the raid.
The investigation is under way.
