Ukraine`s foreign ministry advises against travel to Russia

Political Director of Ukraine`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleksii Makeiev has said that travel to Russia is now dangerous for Ukrainian citizens.

”Travel to the Russian Federation is dangerous for Ukrainians: groundless detentions, provocations at the border and during customs control, tortures, non-admission of consuls…” he wrote on Twitter.

As UNIAN reported earlier, members of NGO Public Monitoring Commission of Moscow found Ukrinform journalist Roman Sushchenko being remanded in custody at the Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility. The Lefortovo court ruled to detain him on accusations of espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At night, lawyer Mark Feygin arrived at the Moscow-based Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility to visit the detained Ukrainian journalist. The lawyer explained that he would protect Sushchenko at the request of the detainee`s wife and Ukrinform.

On Monday, Russia`s Federal Security Service (FSB) accused Sushchenko of being a Ukrainian intelligence officer.

A Moscow court ruled to arrest the Ukrainian journalist for two months.
