Ukraine`s Energoatom sees profit fall nearly 50% since start of year

Energoatom, state-owned operator of Ukraine`s nuclear power stations, has reported a net profit of UAH 1.118 billion in January-June 2016, according to the company`s press service.
Energoatom`s income from energy sales in the said period increased by 5.4% compared with January-June 2015, from UAH 15.588 billion to UAH 16.429 billion, the financial report stated.
Gross profit decreased from UAH 4.920 billion to UAH 3,687 billion year-on-year.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Energoatom made a net profit of UAH 1.168 billion in 2015, against a net loss of UAH 6.494 billion  that the company posted in 2014.
UNIAN memo. SOE Energoatom is Ukraine`s largest electricity producer with a 50% share of the total output of Ukraine`s electricity. Energoatom is also responsible for the safe operation of all the country`s nuclear power plants (NPP).
In terms of installed capacity of nuclear power, Ukraine ranks seventh globally. All operating reactors are VVER-type. There are four NPPs in Ukraine with 15 generating units. One NPP in Zaporizhia has six generating units with a total capacity of 6,000 MW, making it Europe`s largest.
