Ukraine will not agree to “frozen conflict” with Russia – Chaly

Ukraine will not agree to a “frozen conflict” with Russia and counts on military-technical cooperation with the European Union.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Valeriy Chaly told on air of the TV channel “Ukraine.”
“A “frozen conflict” does not suit us. It can quickly lead to a new escalation. We want to address the issue in a strategic respect,” gazeta.ua quotes Chaly.
He said that Ukraine relies on military-technical cooperation with the EU.
“It is a question of the means of communication, drones to monitor the border, etc. Ukraine is not asking Europe for direct military assistance. Indeed, when it comes to the military aid from the West, people immediately think of NATO soldiers coming to Ukraine. We do not talk about this,” the Presidential Administration representative explained.
As reported, Ukrainian President Poroshenko will take part in a meeting in the format Ukraine – European Union – “Eurasian Troika” that will take place on August 26 in Minsk.
On Saturday, August 23, German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrives in Kyiv on an invitation from Petro Poroshenko. As noted by the German media, during this meeting, in particular, the ways will be discussed for achieving peace in the east of Ukraine.
