Ukraine will be ready to join EU in five years – Turchynov

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov believes that within five years Ukraine will implement all the reforms necessary for accession to the European Union and will be ready to join the EU.
The Chairman of the parliament told the Baltic News Agency BNS on Monday.
“We set a five-year plan for European integration,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine quoted Turchynov.
The Speaker added that the Ukrainian government understands “the inability to realize over one day” this striving, but it will embody it without fail, like the NATO accession. And this shall be a reliable guarantee of state sovereignty in the face of Russian attacks.
“Ukraine should become a member of the European Union and NATO. It will be a reliable guarantee against aggressive aspirations of Russia,” Turchynov said.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov participates in the Conference of Nordic and Baltic parliamentary Speakers in Palanga, Lithuania, from August 17 to August 19.
