Ukraine, US will hold joint military exercises

In Ukraine’s west, near the border with Poland, military exercises of the Armed Forces of Ukraine jointly with the U.S. and its allies will be held with participation of more than 1,000 military from the Western countries.
Reuters reports.
“The decision to go ahead with the Rapid Trident exercise Sept. 16-26 is seen as a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine while stopping well short of military intervention in the conflict.” Exercises will be held at the Yavorivsky training center. They were first planned for July, but were postponed due to the crisis in the eastern part of the country.
In the meantime, already 10,000 Russian military were counted on the border with Ukraine.
To remind: NATO intensified military activities on the territory of East European allies following the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March. As it is expected, the alliance will take a decision at the Wales summit this week on creation of new rapid response forces of several thousand military.
