Ukraine to chair UN Security Council in 2017

Ukraine will chair the UN Security Council in February 2017, Ukraine`s Permanent Representative to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko wrote on Twitter.
”With the election of new members for the next two years, we finally know that Ukraine will chair the Security Council in February 2017. We`re already preparing for this,” he tweeted.
Yelchenko also recalled that an indicative vote for the new Secretary General of the organization would take place soon: ”We are beginning to work in the Security Council in July, chaired by Japan. It will be interesting – the first indicative vote for the future UN Secretary General, too many candidates.”
As UNIAN reported earlier, Yelchenko said that Russian representatives at the UN Security Council exerted pressure on the other members of the organization during the voting of motions related to Ukraine.
