Ukraine threshes nearly 8 mln tonnes of grain

Ukrainian farmers have threshed 7.9 million tonnes of grain from 2.2 million hectares (ha), as of July 12, 2016, which is 24% of their target, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry`s press service.
The average yield capacity of grain crops is 34.9 centners per ha.
In particular, the wheat harvest was 3.7 million tonnes from 1 million ha (17% of the target), while barley was 3.8 million tonnes from 1.1 million ha (41%).
Peas were harvested from 101,000 ha (44%), with a yield of 310,000 tonnes.
Ukraine also harvested 326,000 tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 133,000 ha (24%).
Farmers plan to harvest grain and leguminous crops from 9.4 million ha, including 2.8 million ha sown with barley, 142,000 ha with rye, 214,000 ha with oats, and 230,000 ha with peas.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry projects that the gross yield of grain and leguminous crops will reach some 60 million tonnes this year.
Last year, Ukraine harvested 60.1 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, which was 5.8% less than in 2014, according to the State Statistics Committee, which did not include occupied areas in eastern Ukraine and the annexed Crimea.
