Ukraine threshes 4.5 mln tonnes of grain

Ukrainian farmers had threshed 4.5 million tonnes of grain from 1.3 million hectares (ha) as of July 8, 2016, which is 14% of the target, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry`s press service.
The average yield capacity of grain crops is 3.47 tonnes per hectare.
In particular, the harvest of wheat was 1.5 million tonnes from 399,000 hectares (7% of the target), that of barley was 2.8 million tonnes from 840,000 ha (30%).
Peas were harvested from 57,000 ha (25%) and the yield was 170,000 tonnes.
Ukraine also harvested 179,000 tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 76,000 ha.
Farmers plan to harvest grain and leguminous crops from 9.4 million ha, including 2.8 million hectares sown with barley, 142,000 ha with rye, 214,000 ha with oats, and 230,000 ha with peas.
The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry projects that the gross yield of grain and leguminous crops will be around 60 million tonnes this year.
Last year Ukraine harvested 60.1 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, which was 5.8% down on 2014, according to the State Statistics Committee, which did not include occupied areas in eastern Ukraine and the annexed Crimea.
