In Ukraine stays severe winter with extreme weather conditions and temperatures minus 24C

The Ukrainian State Emergency Service states that a powerful cyclone is coming from the Black Sea, and provokes the adverse weather conditions, frosts and heavy snowfalls are provoked by an active Black Sea cyclone and the weather will improve on January 9, 2017.

In central Ukraine the temperatures fell to minus 16C. In Western Ukraine the temperatures fell to minus 24C, reports the Ukrainian State Emergency Service.

On January 6-8, 2017, are expected heavy snowfall of 25-30 cm, snowstorm, snowdrifts in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy, southern areas of Kyiv, and eastern areas of Vinnytsia regions.

Since December 5, 2016, road conditions have worsened. The police has closed some roads across Carpathian mountain passes and banning trucks from a number of highways.

It is expected that the wind speed will increase to 15-20 m/s.

On January 7,2017,a strong storm will remain in Odesa and the region, as snow drifts on the roads. Visibility will stay at 100-500 m. The north wind of 19-24 m / s will blow at daytime with gusts of 25-28 m / sec at night. Besides on January 6, 2016, Odesa was covered with snow, there were canceled flights in the airport, and public transport has worked intermittently.
