Ukraine sends first large batch of dairy foods to Europe

Ukraine has shipped the first batch of dairy foods to the European Union on an industrial scale, according to a Ukrainian supplier.
The shipments were handled by the Milk Alliance group of companies on the order placed by the Ukrainian Trade House, Nadezhda, based in the Bulgarian city of Varna, the company`s press service said citing head of the Milk Alliance`s supervisory board Serhiy Vovchenko.
”It`s a pilot batch to probe demand and tastes of consumers. The foods will be available in specialty shops whose customers are FSU residents. The first store which will offer brands from the Milk Alliance is called Ukrayinka (a Ukrainian Woman) and is located in Varna,” the press service quoted Vovchenko as saying.
The first batch of the dairy exports to Bulgaria consists of cheese, ultra-high temperature (UHT) pasteurized milk, UHT vitaminized milk for children, and sweet creamery butter.
As UaPosition reported earlier, the European Commission granted 10 Ukrainian dairy producers access to the EU market from January 10, 2016. Earlier Ukraine did not supply this type of products to the EU. The companies which were allowed to ship their products to the EU include the Milk Alliance`s divisions (Yahotyn and Zolotonosha dairy factories), Lactalis (Lactalis-Mykolaiv and Milk House), Milkiland (Nedryhaylivsky cheese factory, Romny-based Ros dairy factory, Mena Cheese of the Prometey firm), Lustdorf, Lviv cold storage facility, and Gadyachsyr.
