Ukraine sees rise in volume of construction work

The volume of construction work in Ukraine in January-April 2016 increased by 8.5% year-over-year, to UAH 14.6 billion, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported.
In particular, the volume of construction of buildings rose by 6.9% to UAH 8 billion in the period under review. The volume of residential building construction grew by 2.5%, to UAH 4.5 billion, the volume of construction of non-residential buildings increased by 13.4%, to UAH 3.5 billion. The volume of construction of engineering structures increased by 10.6% to UAH 6.6 billion.
The State Statistics Service notes that work related to new construction, reconstruction and technical re-equipment accounted for 84.8% of the total volume of work in a reporting period, with overhaul and repair work making up 6.8% and 8.4% respectively.
The data is presented excluding the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone.
As reported, construction companies in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv increased the volume of their operations by 0.6% to UAH 3.7 billion, having already completed 25.2% of the total volume of construction work across the country.
As UNIAN reported earlier, last year, construction companies in Ukraine reduced the volume of their work by 14.9% to UAH 55.9 billion as compared to the same period in the previous year.
In 2014, the volume of construction work shrank by 21.7% to UAH 50.2 billion as compared to 2013.
