Ukraine sees almost 10% increase in construction costs

The cost of building and installation work in Ukraine in January-July 2016 increased by 9.6%, compared to the same period in 2015, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported.

The highest increase in prices of building and installation work (17.3%) was recorded in the construction of pipelines, utilities and power lines. The lowest increase in prices (5.7%) was seen in the construction of transport facilities.

The cost of building and installation work in July 2016 rose by 0.4%, compared to June (growth in June was recorded at 0.9% as compared to May).

According to the State Statistics Service, the highest increase in the cost of building and installation work (0.5%) in July was reported in the construction of houses. Also, a decrease of 0.1% in the costs of building and installation work was recorded in transport facilities construction in the reporting month.

Meanwhile, the State Statistics Service noted that the data does not include information from temporarily occupied territory in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, or from the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in eastern Ukraine.

As reported earlier, the cost of building and installation work in Ukraine from January-June 2016 grew by 9.9% year-over-year.

Overall last year, the cost of building and installation work grew by 27.1%, compared to 2014.
