Three Ukrainian soldiers were killed, another 16 were wounded in fighting in eastern Ukraine in the past day, according to a spokesman for the Ukrainian Presidential Administration.
”There were three killed in action (KIA`s) and 16 wounded in action (WIA`s),” administration spokesman for Anti-Terrorist Operation issues Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sunday.
The casualties were the result of battles in the Donetsk sector, Lysenko said.
Eight out of the 16 wounded Ukrainian solders got contusion injuries amid shelling near the village of Luhanske, he added.
He also reported that two Russian-backed militants had been killed and another five had been wounded.
Russian troops intensified shelling in all directions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, with 51 attacks recorded on July 9 alone, according to the ATO headquarters press center.
