Ukraine reduces gas imports in July by nearly 32%

Ukraine reduced gas imports in July by 31.8% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 409 million cubic meters, according to Ukrtransgaz, operator of the country`s gas transport system.

Natural gas imports in Ukraine were undertaken by five companies during the period.

”Gas supplies over the last 248 days have been carried out solely from Europe,” the press service said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in late November 2015, Ukraine stopped buying Russian gas. Subsequently, last year, Ukraine doubled its natural gas imports from Europe to 10.3 billion cubic meters (bcm), compared with 2014, while reducing purchases of hydrocarbons from the Russian Federation by 2.3 times.

According to the State Statistics Service, in 2015, Ukraine imported 16.4 bcm of gas, down by 15.8% from 2014.
