Ukraine ready to receive gas from Slovakia

Ukrtransgaz has completed work to ensure the technical possibility of receiving gas from Slovakia, the press service of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has reported.
“On August 7, 2014, PJSC Ukrtransgaz completed work at the Uzhgorod compressor station to ensure the technical possibility of receiving natural gas from Slovakia. The work was carried out according to schedule, using the company’s own means and funds,” reads the statement.
According to the report, as a result of the latest negotiations between the operators of the gas transport systems of Ukraine (Ukrtransgaz) and Slovakia (Eustream a.s.), final agreement was reached on the technical aspects of border cooperation and interaction on the operation of facilities and gas registration.
As reported, on April 28, 2014, Ukrtransgaz and Eustream signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure reverse gas supplies to Ukraine. In early July, Slovakia’s operator Eustream announced the successful completion of the Open Season procedure for receiving applications for gas supplies to Ukraine through Slovakia.
Some 20 European companies have expressed an interest in the supply of gas to Ukraine through Slovakia.
