Ukraine posts balance of payments surplus worth US$1.1 bln in 10 months

Ukraine posted US$1.098 billion in the surplus of the balance of payments January through October 2016, which was five times higher than the surplus posted in the same period of 2015 at $227 million, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The surplus of the balance of payments in October 2016 alone stood at $91 million.

The current account though saw a deficit of $234 million in October and $2.539 billion in the ten months.

The country`s capital account was estimated at $14 billion in October and at $93 billion in January-October 2016.

The financial account was estimated at $311 million in October and at $3.544 billion in the ten months.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine`s balance of payments saw the transition from a deficit to a surplus in 2015, when its surplus was estimated at $849 million against a deficit of $13.3 billion in 2014.
