Ukraine posts $406 mln surplus in balance of payments in H1

Ukraine posted a US $406 million surplus in the balance of payments for the January-June period against a deficit of $1.3 billion in the same period in 2015, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
The surplus in June alone stood at $377 million, which was 22.9% down from the surplus registered in June 2015.
The current account in June also showed a surplus, estimated at $241 million. It stood at $184 million in the January-June 2016 period.
The financial account demonstrated a deficit of $136 million in June and a deficit of $547 million from January to June 2016.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the balance of payments in Ukraine in May was positive and the surplus was estimated at $374 million, which was up $54 million, or 16.9%, from the surplus recorded in May 2015 at $320 million.
From January to May 2016, the surplus amounted to $29 million, against a deficit of $1.789 billion in the same period in 2015.
