Ukraine offers U.S. joint production of rocket engines to replace Russian models

The United States are interested in joint manufacturing and development of a rocket engine together with Ukraine to replace the Russian models on which the U.S. space industry is totally dependent at the moment, that`s according to the head of the National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSAU), Lyubomyr Sabadosh, who spoke at a press conference Monday commenting on the results of the visit of Ukrainian delegation to the United States on May 23-27.
”We have offered our capabilities regarding the implementation of a joint project for the production of liquid engine, which is now purchased in the Russian Federation. On the part of our partners there is an understanding that this task is quite complex but we can handle it, and discussion will continue at the expert level,” said Sabadosh.
He added that during the talks, the sides will discuss terms of development, conducting of tests, as well as funding.
According to Sabadosh, the U.S. experts said they were interested in having alternative suppliers of engines. The Ukrainian side handed over the position of Yuzhnoe Design Bureau on the negotiations and discussions over the cooperation conditions. The next stage of talks will be held in Kyiv in November 2016, the official said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the NSAU last week held talks with NASA aimed at deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the United States and the implementation of joint projects in the space sector.
