Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will conduct a study and environmental assessment of the implementation of new technologies for the extraction and exploration of gas fields, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology said, with reference to Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak.
”In response to the request of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman on the need to increase production of the Ukrainian gas, the Ministry of Ecology has started a research on the introduction of new technologies during the exploration of potential gas fields,” he said.
Semerak also said that environmental safety standards must be met with an increase in gas production.
”By increasing the production of Ukrainian gas, we should be guided by the principle of the need to respect the environmental safety requirements, taking into account the possible consequences of such actions for the environment,” he said.
The Minister also pointed out that the simplification of the system of special permits for subsoil use and implementation of an effective control system would reduce the risks of corruption and increase its own gas production.
