Ukraine expects record grain exports

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has increased its forecast of Ukraine`s grain exports in the 2016-2017 marketing year (July 2016 – June 2017) from 39.8 million tonnes announced earlier to over 40 million tonnes, Agrarian Minister Taras Kutoviy said at a ministry meeting Friday.

”There are no threats to the country`s food security. We plan that the total exports for 2016-2017 will exceed 40 million tonnes,” he said.

The Minister noted that this would be a record figure in the history of Ukraine`s independence.

He also said that since the beginning of the current marketing year, grain traders sent 10 million tonnes of grain to external markets, which is 0.5 million tonnes more year-over-year.
