Ukraine condemns Russia-Abkhazia treaty

Ukraine condemns the signing of a treaty on alliance and strategic partnership between Russia and unrecognized Abkhazia and reiterates support for the territorial integrity of Georgia.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said this at a briefing on Tuesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Ukraine, which is now suffering from the aggressive actions of Russia, confirms its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and calls on the democratic world to take decisive steps to prevent further destruction by the Russian Federation of the system of international security and international law,” he said.
Perebyinis said that the signature by Russia and Abkhazia of this document on cooperation was another evidence of Russia’s ignoring international law and “deliberate provocation aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Black Sea region.”
He said that these actions by Russia “pose a threat to peace and security in the entire European space.”
