Ukraine`s chief prosecutor may probe into some provisions of 2017 budget

Ukraine`s chief prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko has announced that his office will analyze some provisions of the national budget for 2017, which was passed by the Verkhovna Rada in the early hours of Wednesday, December 21.

”Unfortunately, what was passed yesterday has some challenges that the Prosecutor General`s Office should deal with. The bill [on the budget] will be signed [by the president into law]. We`ll analyze [it] with our focus on several controversial points that observers have already mentioned. I won`t give details as prosecutors should act without prior warning,” Lutsenko said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine`s Verkhovna Rada early on December 21 passed a government-prepared budget for 2017. The deficit of the budget is set at 3%, while economic growth is projected at 3% of GDP. Budget revenues are projected at UAH 721.4 billion, while outlays are fixed at UAH 790.4 billion.
