Ukraine calls on journalists to respect Azerbaijani laws

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on the country’s media representatives to follow the recommendations of the ministry and respect the rules of Azerbaijan regarding visits to Nagorno-Karabakh.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis stated this while commenting on the note sent from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine as a protest to the program aired on 1+1 TV channel.
“We will inform the Azerbaijani side that the recommendation was posted on our website that it is important to get consent of the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan to visit the aforementioned region. We always urge journalists to comply with these standards,” he said.
Perebyinis said Ukrainian journalists violated the rules of Azerbaijan and didn’t follow the recommendation of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“This is a private TV channel, so we can’t give them any directive. In any case, we call on all journalists to comply with these standards. We will inform the channel management about our position once more,” he said.
