Ukraine boosts gas imports from Slovakia

Ukraine has increased daily gas imports from Slovakia, having supplied 11.8 million cubic meters (mcm) on July 19, up by 51% compared with the previous day, in light of the need to build up gas stocks before the start of the heating season.
Ukraine plans to import 12.9 mcm of gas from Slovakia on July 20, up by 9.3% from the previous day, according to Slovakia`s gas transportation system operator Eustream.
Daily gas imports through the Slovakian route in the first half of June stood at about 0.5 mcm.  Imports have, however, grown significantly from July 15, according to the report.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine stopped transferring gas from its underground facilities following the conclusion of the heating season, and since April 7, gas stocks are being replenished.
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine plans to pump 14.5 billion cubic meters of gas into its underground gas storage facilities by the start of the next heating season.
The company said it would carry out gas purchases using its own funds and loan money provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to the tune of US$300 million.
