Ukraine asks EU to give another EUR 2 bln in aid

The Ukrainian government has asked the European Commission to provide an additional EUR 2 billion in the form of macro-financial assistance, which will be sent to the budget.
The director of the department for debt and international financial assistance at the Finance Ministry, Halyna Pakharchuk, said this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration, the Yevropeiska Pravda online newspaper reported.
“We asked the EU for an additional EUR 2 billion in macro-financial assistance,” Pakharchuk said.
Sources in the EU structures confirmed the existence of such a request and explained that this amount was formed by two different requests from the Ukrainian side.
Meanwhile, the actual receipt of funds by Ukraine may depend on whether Kyiv performs previously agreed conditions for macroeconomic stability.
