U.S. Intelligence chief James Clapper to resign – WSJ

”I submitted my letter of resignation last night, which felt pretty good,” Mr. Clapper told lawmakers during a House Intelligence Committee hearing, WSJ reports. ”I have 64 days left…”

Spokesman Richard Kolko said that Mr. Clapper ”signed the letter like everybody else, as is tradition” and that there was nothing unusual about it.

As director of national intelligence for the past six years, Mr. Clapper has overseen all 17 agencies of the intelligence community, which includes his office.

A White House official said Mr. Clapper intends to stay through the rest of Mr. Obama`s term.

More top officials are expected to submit letters of resignation as Obama administration winds down and Trump prepares to take office.
