U.S. government to help Ukraine establish new patrol service

The U.S. government is to actively contribute to the formation of the new patrol service, which is planned to be established in Ukraine instead of the state traffic inspectorate.
This was stated by U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt during the presentation of the coordination centre for training Kyiv patrol staff, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I can assure you of any support from the U.S. government in this project. We will also cooperate with our European partners in this field,” Pyatt said.
According to the ambassador, the high-skilled American experts would come to Kyiv to lend practical assistance to Ukrainian colleagues.
“The USA and some European countries, which have undertaken reform process, will bring here their best advisers,” Pyatt said.
He added that the most important principles, which new patrol service will be constituted on, are transparency, accountability, rule of law and “no corruption.”
January 19, 2015, registration of candidates to service in the patrol police, to be established by the summer of this year on the basis of the state traffic inspectorate, opened.
The Interior Ministry of Ukraine stated that the project is mainly funded by the USA.
