Turkey ready to sign FTA with Ukraine, excluding agriculture

Turkey is ready to sign an agreement on a free trade zone with Ukraine, but wants to exclude an agricultural section from it, said Turkey`s Ambassador to Ukraine Yonet C. Tezel, according to an UaPosition correspondent.
”We are ready to sign the agreement, but we do not want to include an agricultural section,” the Ambassador said during public debate ”Ukraine-Turkey: a New Black Sea Union?”
He noted that Turkey had held talks on concluding free trade agreements with 32 other countries, having always agreed on special provisions regarding agricultural products.
In turn, Chief of Directorate General for Protocol at Ukraine`s Foreign Affairs Ministry Olga Chubrykova noted there is a political will in Ukraine to sign FTA deal with Turkey, but on mutually beneficial conditions that will serve interests of both states.
According to Chubrykova, Ukraine does not put forward any specific deadlines for signing the agreement.
Chubrykova also said the parties had had lively talks during which a set of issues was defined that the parties could not reach an agreement on. The remaining issues have to be solved at the highest political level, she said.
