Seventy-six Russian servicemen have been involved in participation in a working group of the joint center for monitoring and coordination of the ceasefire and the phased stabilization of the line of contact in eastern Ukraine, which began its work on Friday.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Friday, Ukrinform’s correspondent reported.
“The group includes representatives of the Ukrainian side, the OSCE monitoring group and 76 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces,” Lysenko said.
He said that Russian servicemen officially had the status of members of the trilateral working group.
Lysenko said that the main objective of the center’s working group was to take measures aimed at establishing a complete ceasefire regime.
“It is planned to withdraw systems of more than 100 millimeter caliber and create a 30-kilometer delimitation zone, which is envisaged by the Minsk memorandum, as well as to dismantle previously installed mines and explosive barriers in the designated areas of the warring parties,” he said.
Lysenko added that the zone of designated districts on the ceasefire would be split into four or five security sectors, in which three to five OSCE monitoring groups, together with representatives of Ukraine and Russia, will work. “It is extremely important that this working group of the joint center monitor the ceasefire during the entire period of the stabilization of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” he said.
