The prosecutor`s office in Kyiv has stated that it suspects the former Acting Director on Technical Policy of USEP Ukrposhta of the large scale embezzlement of public funds when carrying out fuel purchases, according to the press service of the prosecutor`s office.
It has been reported that the pre-trial investigation had established that in 2014, an official, acting in the interests of third parties and abusing his official position, entered into an agreement with a private company to supply fuel at deliberately inflated prices, having over-billed the state-owned enterprise UAH 1.1 million.
The Ukrposhta official has been charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation or taking of another`s property through abuse of office committed on a large scale).
Further, a petition to the court has been drawn up to determine how to restrain the suspect prior to the trial.
An investigation into the possible embezzlement is ongoing.
