Tax officers to leave defense industry among “preferential” priorities

The fiscal service of Ukraine as part of tax reform proposes to limit benefits for taxable income in four areas – oil and gas, machinery for agriculture, defense industry and enterprises founded by the NGOs for disabled persons.
This initiative was announced by Chairman of the State Fiscal Service Ihor Bilous at a briefing on Tuesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“And enterprises of these industries will receive benefits only on condition of direction of exempted profits in development of domestic production,” Bilous stressed the condition that will be substantiated by his office.
According to the manager, financial and industrial groups lobbied long tax breaks for their businesses.
“The oligarchs, and not only they, banally “pushed” through the government and parliamentary influence groups the exemption of their firms from taxation. Now we have a very difficult result – the number of privileged sectors was excessive, the budget simply cannot withstand such amount,” Bilous said.
