The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has declared state of emergency in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
This has been announced by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk at the government’s offsite meeting on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“In accordance with the Code of Civil Defense of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted decision on the recognition of emergency at the state level. The Government of Ukraine has decided to declare state of emergency on the territory of Donetsk region and Luhansk region,” he said.
Yatseniuk noted that declaring state of emergency did not mean imposing martial law in the state, which may be approved only by the Parliament.
