Slovakia launches test pumping of gas for Ukraine

Slovakia on Saturday started the test pumping of natural gas in the reverse direction at the compressor station in the town of VelkeKapusany and at the reconstructed Uzhgorod-Vojany gas pipeline, RIA Novosti has reported, citing a representative of Slovak company Eustream.
The operator of the Slovakian gas transportation system, Eustream, and the Ukrainian side began on Saturday, at 10.00 CET, test trials in the reverse direction at the compressor station in VelkeKapusanyand at the reconstructed UzhgorodVojany gas pipeline, he said.
He noted that the reverse mode would be launched during the tests and that the reliability and operational capacity of the pipeline would be tested.
The commercial use of the pipeline will begin on September 2, he added.
According to Eustream, the pipeline will reach maximum supplies by March 2015 – ten billion cubic meters per year.
