Security measures tightened at Ukrainian airports, railway stations, power plants

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has approved the list of objects of national significance, which since today come under mandatory protection by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The Head of Government has announced this decision today during the teleconference with heads of regional state administration, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Now I will sign an order. There are several hundred objects of national significance, which should be liable, after today’s decision, to obligatory protection of the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine,” Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
According to the PM, these objects comprise ports, airports, a number of Ukrzaliznytsya objects, waterworks, power plants, and some others.
“I also ask the heads of regional state administrations together with the Interior Ministry and the Security Service to determine the appropriate list of local importance objects. Foremost, this applies to water supplies, electricity supplies, gas supplies and public places, which are likely to come under major threat.”
