Security and Defense Council: 837 servicemen killed in east Ukraine hostilities

Not taking into account loss of life during the withdrawal from the encirclement near Ilovaisk, the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine has already claimed the lives of 837 Ukrainian servicemen and inflicted wounds on over 3,000.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“According to official figures, as of September 4, 837 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 3,044 injured over the entire period of the ATO,” he said.
Lysenko said that these figures were based on proven facts, which were officially confirmed in due course.
According to the spokesman, after the operation on the removal of Ukrainian troops from Ilovaisk casualty figures will be revised.
