SBU busts Kyiv police investigator on $15,000 bribe

An investigator from Kyiv Holosiivskiy police department has been detained on bribery charges by the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the prosecutor`s office, the SBU`s press center reports.
The blackmailer demanded $15,000 from a resident of the capital for the closure of criminal proceedings with respect to a fictitious business and appropriation and embezzlement.
For this money, the police officer also promised to return to the suspect the physical evidence seized during the investigation.
Law enforcers detained the police captain upon receiving a bribe in the amount of EUR 8,500.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are under way.
