SBU busts Kyiv city officials on bribe

The Security Service of Ukraine with the assistance of top leaders of the Kyiv City State Administration exposed criminal activity of officials of the administration`s urban development department and the State Service for Emergency Situations, according to the SBU press service.
The officials demanded money from the directors of gas-filling stations for non-interference with their business operations and the return of the earlier seized equipment of the filling stations. The security services detained the bribe takers from the Kyiv CSA and a mediator, who is a lawyer, in one of the capital`s office centers.
The perpetrators were caught taking a UAH 60,000 bribe for two filling stations from the head of a network. Law enforcers have evidence of the receipt by extortionists of another UAH 120,000 in bribes over the last two months.
The searches in the offices and residences of all detainees are continuing.
Criminal proceedings were launched under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
