Savchenko starts work at PACE

On June 20, Ukrainian MP Nadia Savchenko took part in the European People`s Party (EPP/CD) working meeting as part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) plenary session, Ukraine Today has reported.

The EPP/CD members greeted their counterpart Savchenko with cheers as she turned up at the PACE headquarters in Strasbourg, according to Ukraine Today.

When the spokesperson announced her attendance, the EPP/CD members stood up and greeted her with applause. Savchenko politely bowed in response.

”My presence here is possible due to your effort also. I am very grateful to all those present and all those who fought for me, everyone who has supported Ukraine. You and I share the same views. Ukraine looks towards the good, towards progress, towards Europe. I will work to ensure we develop a fruitful cooperation. I want to thank you sincerely on my own behalf and on behalf of Ukraine,” said Savchenko.

The EPP/CD President Joseph Daul commented on his meeting with Savchenko who told him what happened to her and also shared her plans for future.

”We fully share (her) views about Russians, about Putin, and how we must continue working with him. My first impression is that Nadia is aspiring to serve the Ukrainian people, and I think that is what she intends to do,” said EPP`s President.

He called Savchenko ”a very responsible woman who thinks and works well for Ukrainians, also for those residing in the (militant-held) Donbas.”
