The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 32 times in the past 24 hours, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.
In the Donetsk sector, the Russian-backed mercenaries fired all types of small arms and 82mm mortars 14 times on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the town of Avdiyivka, Butivka coal mine, and the village of Opytne. They also used grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns and small arms near the villages of Maiorsk, Zaitseve and Luhanske.
”In addition, from 22:00 to midnight, the enemy resorted to provocative actions and fired from small arms and weapons installed on infantry fighting vehicles. Later, using 120mm mortars, the militants launched 40 mines on the Ukrainian positions near Maiorsk. An enemy sniper was active in the area as well,” the Headquarters said.
In the Mariupol sector, the occupiers fired small arms, grenade launchers and 82mm mortars on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka, and the villages of Novotroyitske, Shyrokyne and Kirove.
”The enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups intensified across the contact line, but the Ukrainian soldiers gave them a fitting rebuff,” the press center said.
