Russian MFA officially uses term “Novorossiya”

The Russian Foreign Ministry already calls Luhansk and Donetsk regions “Novorossiya.”
It is said in official information of the Russian Foreign Ministry by results of a meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, held recently “on the fields” of the session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Russian MFA press service informs.
“On September 24, on “the fields” of the session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. They discussed the situation in Ukraine in the context of the efforts taken to ensure a stable truce in the southeast and arrangement of a direct dialogue between the authorities in Kyiv and leaders of Novorossiya in the context of fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by them, based on peaceful initiatives of President of Russia Vladimir Putin,” a statement reads.
Earlier, the Russian MFA in its official statements used other formulations concerning the Ukrainian territory. In particular, first, the matter concerns self-proclaimed “LPR” and “DPR” in Donbas. Following the beginning of the Minsk consultations on settlement of the situation in Donbas, the Russian MFA started to name eastern regions of Ukraine by their names – Luhansk and Donetsk regions. In the signed documents by results of the Minsk agreements separatists also refused from the mythic formulations “DPR” and “LPR.”
