Russian citizen attempts to smuggle Ukraine-produced parts for military aircraft: Security Service

A Russian citizen attempting to smuggle Ukrainian-produced military goods was detained by officers of Ukraine`s Security Service (SBU) at a railroad junction of the Ukrainian South-Western Railways in Sumy region, the SBU press service reported.

According to experts, the detainee was trying to transfer components of the onboard systems of military aircraft MiG-29, Su-27, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of various modifications across the Ukrainian border. The State Service of Export Control said the detainee was not carrying any permits for the transportation of goods.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the order of international transfers of goods subject to state export control). The detainee has officially been named as a suspect and the investigation is underway.
