Russia must withdraw its forces from Eastern Ukraine – US Secretary of State John Kerry

A senior State Department official reported that on Wednesday, April 23, 2015, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry had the phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. John Kerry stated that pro-Russian terrorists had to stop violating the cease-fire, and Russia had to withdraw its forces from Ukraine.

US Secretary of State John Kerry underlined that ” U.S. training of Ukrainian National Guard units in the western part of Ukraine was fully transparent, defensive, and at the invitation of the Ukrainian government”.

On April 23, 2015, talking at the Atlantic Council’s Conference on Trade and National Security, John Kerry admitted that it is very important to support the sovereignty of Ukraine:

“The United States and Europe are bound together – as Shakespeare put it “by hoops of iron.” … TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnerships) will reinforce our common effort to counter violent extremism, support the sovereignty of Ukraine, build energy security and independence for many nations in Europe that currently have to rely on one source – Russia, and also it will help us address such global problems, such as nuclear proliferation and climate change. That’s what comes out of this kind of cooperative effort and the growth that it will spur,” – US Secretary of State John Kerry
